“It is a sign between Me and the children of Israel forever; for in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day He rested and was refreshed.”
We may take a day and rest, but do we really rest, and even more importantly, do we get refreshed in the LORD? As we see here, the LORD really emphasizes the importance of taking a Sabbath, resting and being refreshed. Because, as we will see in the very next chapter the Israelites get stupid!
“They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them. They have made themselves a molded calf, that brought you out of the land of Egypt.”
We can fall into the same trap: have a great weekend, hear a great message and maybe even get some rest, but we don’t take the time to be refreshed in the LORD! Then Monday shows up and we are right back in the world: making a golden calf so to speak! How? Getting sucked into the news of the day, worrying about sports stats or the drama of daily life! The LORD desires us to be set apart unto Him, because He knows how easily distracted we are!
“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
We all need to make sure that we make the time to rest in the LORD and be refreshed by the LORD! This is the only way we don’t get caught up in making golden useless calves, shiny objects that do us absolutely no good! Have a blessed day being refreshed in the LORD!
“The rich shall not give more and the poor shall not give less than half a shekel, when you give an offering to the LORD, to make atonement for yourselves.”
Everyone needs to participate in serving the LORD, no matter your situation or status! Too often we push serving and giving onto someone else!
“Blessed is every one who fears the LORD, who walks in His ways.”
Sometimes we need to be reminded that we are saved, we are going to heaven to spend eternity with the LORD! As we wait for that day we really need to be part of what the LORD is doing here!
“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
Where is your heart at? Are you sharing the good news of salvation?
“Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will take joy in the God of my salvation.”
Don’t get sucked into worldly activities or even religious shows, just get sucked into the LORD, serving and giving to Him! Have a blessed day telling someone about Jesus!
“And whoever will not receive you nor hear you, when you depart from there, shake off the dust under your feet as a testimony against them. Assuredly, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgement than for that city!”
What Jesus is saying go out and tell people about the good news of salvation! He doesn’t say go out and debate getting into endless arguments!
“So they went out and preached that people should repent.”
We live at a time of debates and disagreements, just watch the news and social media! As believers we need to not only talk about the LORD telling people about the good news of salvation, but we need to live like believers! What we say needs to be backed up by how we live!
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
As we go out and about toady let us shine for the LORD in actions and speech! Looking for opportunities to talk or even post about repentance and the good news of salvation! Have a blessed day letting your light shine for the LORD.
