As evil as Saul is, he made pledges and resolutions not to kill David, but never kept them, but instead continued to try and kill David! We need to be careful of making resolutions and pledges also!

“Just let your ‘Yes’ be a simple ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No’ a simple ‘No’; anything more than this has its origin in evil.”

What ever we say we are going to do or not do, we should really work hard at keeping! “Let your ‘no’ and ‘yes’ both be righteous.”

“Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from deceiving talk.”

On this New Years Day let’s be careful of the words we use and the promises we make!

This is sad! Instead of celebrating the success of David, Saul becomes afraid and jealous!

Envy is wanting more than we already have or need! Saul was king and David was being successful for the king, the country and especially for Adonai! Saul’s problem was he wanted the glory and the credit! Realize all credit belongs to Adonai!

“Give Adonai His due, you who are godly; give Adonai His due of glory and strength; give Adonai the glory due His name; worship Adonai in holy splendor.”
Psalm 29:1-2 CJB

We all need to be totally submitted to God giving Him all credit and glory!

This is how we should look at the defiant world around us, how dare they come against God! The point is when evil, (uncircumcised Philistines) come out against us, we should understand they’ve already lost because Adonai reigns supreme!

“Adonai, how I hate those who hate You! I feel such disgust with those who defy You!”

This is how we should look at the ungodly world around us that defies God! So when the world attacks us like Goliath, don’t fear, just know God reigns and is in control of all things!

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”

No matter how big the problems may be, understand God will take care of every situation!

David, was just anointed and then goes back to tending sheep! We don’t know for how long, but he was anointed and went back to work until God called him to serve!

We are all anointed to serve Adonai, and when He calls us, we need to step up and step out!

Be aware that Adonai is God; it is He who made us; and we are His, His people, the flock in His pasture.”

I believe that sometimes we forget this and need to be reminded that God made us and we belong to Him!
